Radio spot research
6.9% of radio airtime consists of radio spots/advertisements, this is one of the main ways radio stations make their profits. A decent exchange is usually made from a company (usually cash) to allow their advertisement to be played. The first radio broadcasts aired in the early 1900s and have become very popular. For example jaws, the film has a trailer, a poster and was advertised on bill boards etc, having the option to create a radio spot was even better. The more a company advertises their product the better and a radio spot is a very clever way to do it. people listen to the radio on the way to work, at work, when they wake up on a morning, whilst getting ready, at the gym etc. the list could go on forever, so having the trailer played on the radio means people would be hearing it day in day out leading to many becoming interested in it and going to watch it.
Using inspiration from the jaws trailer above we have decided that in our trailer we want to use three different sources, a voice over, a clip from our film and our film tune/song thats also been used in our final film. By using the same song that we used in our film the two could easily be associated together. hopefully when people have heard the radio spot they remember the theme tune so if it comes on the tv they would take the time out to watch the trailer rather than just turn it over.
